empty head issue 4

What is the colonial urge to defy nature? It seems that the ultimate end game of colonial capitalism is to innovate itself into oblivion, eclipsing death at all costs. Does colonial capitalism and its fear of death seek immortality in the plastic waste it leaves behind? Employing a found-word poetry structure using words cut from Kristy Robertson’s article ‘Plastiglomerate’, this issue of 'empty head' addresses these questions and attempts to problematize anthropocentric and Eurocentric relationships to land, time, life and death on this suffering planet. The accompanying visuals are digital composites, made from the blending together of two or more images. I am considering the poetic and epistemological capacity of composite to alchemize perceived dichotomies like nature/culture, organic/artifice, life/death.
